New Year's Eve Events
Saturday, December 31, 2012   
 
Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa New Year's Eve Dinner Buffet, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Enjoy a variety of fresh seafood, sizzling beef, chinese duck, local vegetables, sumptuous sweets, and much more at Hawaii Calls Restaurant and Lounge.  Reservations recommended; call 886-6789.  A New Year's Eve party follows from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.         
 
Hilton Waikoloa Village features a New Year's Eve party at the Malolo Lounge from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., complete with live entertainment until midnight, a cash bar, party favors, and continuous New Year's Eve celebrations throughout the different time zones.  Special holiday menus will be featured at the Hilton's Kamuela Provision Company and Imari restaurants.  For dinner reservations call 886-1234 ext. 54.  But the big bash of the evening is happening in the Monarchy Grand Ballroom, beginning with specialty dinner stations prepared by an award winning chef, with the soft guitar sounds of John Keawe in the background.  Afterwards the Johnny Shot Band cranks out the dance tunes until midnight, when a DJ takes over.  
 
Fairmont Orchid presents a New Year's Eve dinner and dessert buffet followed by a party with a hosted bar, Hawaiian arts and crafts, dancing, moonlit canoe rides, masks, and a midnight champagne toast from 7 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.  Call 885-2000 for reservations and tickets. 
 
Four Seasons Resort will display fireworks that can best be viewed by guests of the hotel but can also be seen from Queen Kaahumanu Highway if you happen to be passing by the Hualalai resort area.  
 
Kailua-Kona's Coconut Grove Marketplace on Alii Drive hosts its annual University of the Nations New Year's Eve Celebration with live music, fire knife dancers, hula dancers, clowns, balloon drops, face painting, competitions with prizes, and fireworks.  For information about the free family event call 326-4400 ext. 4092.   
Ongoing Activities       
Kings' Shops Farmers Market is held each Wednesday from 8:30 to 2:00.  
 
Kings' Trail Petroglyph Tours are offered from 10:30 to 11:30 Thursdays through Sundays, beginning at the Kings' Shops center stage.   
 
Kings' Shops Entertainment at the center stage features the soothing sounds of popular Hawaiian singer John Keawe Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00. 
 
Merriman's at the Kings' Shops presents an excellent Happy Hour, which includes versatile menu selections and light-meal items, from 3:00 to 5:30 daily.
